it was good

In Sunday School yesterday,
we discussed the Creation.

Something jumped out at me
this time
that I hadn't
thought of before.

After each thing was created,
God saw that IT WAS GOOD.

And after everything was created,
and He was finished,
He saw that IT WAS VERY GOOD.

Why is that such
an important
part of the story?

It hit me yesterday
as I pondered this thought
that the scriptures
are always very symbolic.

And we are told
that the best way to study them
is to apply them to ourselves.

So how does this apply?

Could it be
that the Lord is trying
to teach us
to step back
and see the good we do each day?

How often
do I end the day

with thoughts like:
"I should have done this,
I could have done that better,
I didn't finish what I started."

Do I ever
go to bed
pleased
with what I accomplished?

________

My sister is training
for a triathlon.
In her training,
they are taught to
spend a little time
each night as they're
falling asleep
repeating to themselves
something good they did that day.

They repeat it over and over
until they fall asleep.

I like it.
Focus on the good.

Say it over and over,
"I did this today and
IT WAS GOOD!"

___________

What do you do
to focus on the good things
you do everyday?

laugh--the earlier the better

A came home from school yesterday
in such a happy mood.
It could be
because he pulled off
some really good grades
for second term.

But he thinks
it was because
he and his two buddies E and J
had a really good laugh during first period.
He said, "Mom, I've never
laughed so hard
that early in the morning!"

Maybe he's got something.

I never laugh early in the morning,
and I really don't laugh
often enough.

So this morning
I'm making a list of some things
that make me laugh.

Here are just a few:

.

  1. Being with my sisters. They are so much fun, and there's just something about being together--are we reverting back to the inner child? Maybe--but whatever it is, it's good medicine!

  2. Babies and little kids can definitely get me laughing...the funny things they say and do, and the way they belly laugh with no inhibitions. I love that!

  3. Have you read these books by Richard Peck? "A Long Way from Chicage"
    and "A Year Down Yonder"
make me laugh out loud. Especially the first
time I read them, but re-reading is almost as good.

  4. I've seen this video quite a few times--and you probably have too--but it still makes me laugh every time.

What gets you laughing?

Is it a good joke
or a funny photo?
Please leave me a comment
and give me some ideas...

I need a good laugh today!
